B2B SaaS company, Smartly is one of New Zealand’s top payroll and people management solution providers. With a whopping 4.9-star rating on Capterra, they have built a loyal customer base since founding in 2004.

We’ve been working with Smartly since 2022, after they rebranded as part of their acquisition by Datacom. As they have grown over the years, Smartly has held on to its startup culture, so working with our agile team at Atlas was a no-brainer for Growth Marketing Manager, Jillian Whitmore, who says:

Leveraging research from the Smartly marketing team, we knew that decision makers within the New Zealand SME market for payroll software, were aware of most of Smartly competitors, and chose Smartly based on its simplicity and cost effectiveness. 

Their target audience were spending time searching payroll and HR related topics, and using LinkedIn for professional development and networking. 

Building a campaign around these insights meant experimenting with creative and special offers. 

Combining clever creative from the Smartly team with our technical nous reached the highest ever monthly new sign ups, exceeding the target by 53%.
